Topic encompasses a trio of subjects; history, geography and citizenship. These help pupils understand their place in the world by exploring people, places, cultures and events. Through accessible, experiential learning—such as sensory geography, role play or exploring artefacts—pupils develop awareness of community, diversity and the wider environment. Topic supports communication, social understanding and a stronger sense of identity and belonging.
