EYFS Pathway
Our EYFS Pathway supports learners in reception and sometimes year 1, offering a highly personalised approach based on Development Matters: Birth to Five and each child’s EHCP. We provide a nurturing, play‑based environment that promotes curiosity, independence and early communication skills, with a strong emphasis on outdoor exploration and sensory engagement.
Teaching focuses on developing key foundations—communication, physical development and sensory processing, to prepare pupils for the next steps in their learning journey as they move through the school.
Within EYFS, pupils learn through the following areas of development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
- Communication and Language (C+L)
- Physical Development (PD)
- Literacy (L)
- Mathematics (M)
- Understanding the World (UTW)
- Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)
For pupils who find the Early Learning Goals less accessible, we use the Engagement Model and adapt teaching to offer a more sensory, responsive learning experience.
