Why do we need to raise funds?
As a school, our only source of income comes from the money that we are paid by the local authorities who’s children attend Marjorie McClure. As with any school, the budget is always stretched to pay our wonderful staff and to maintain the fabric of our school buildings. Sadly, there is nothing left in the pot to pay for many of the items that we need to improve the learning experience of our students.
As background, when preparing to move into our new school on Slades Drive, the budget from The Department for Education provided an incredible site with so much more space than we had in our old site, but we needed so many more specialist facilities that were not provided for in the original costings.
Through the incredible generosity of individuals and Charitable organisations, we were able to include all of our outdoor playground equipment both for the early years classes and for the older students. We also provided state of the art Immersion and Sensory Rooms, specialist communication devices, musical instruments and so much more
However, this is never the end of the story and we will continue to need additional funds to buy specialist equipment for our students, as well as to fund the necessary replacements of one more of our minibuses.
