Dear Parents /Carers,

Well, it is good to see so many of the pupils fit and well. It is just a shame that so many staff are still off with nasty flu infections. We are lucky to have some of our reliable retired teachers who remain on our staff list as supply teachers so that we have experienced people to cover for any sickness. It has been difficult this week as more staff have been very ill. I hope that we will see the end of the bugs very soon although the figures from the NHS have shown a massive rise in the number of people with flu over the last week.

Please do remember not to send your child to school if they are unwell and please support us by reinforcing good regular hand washing with your children to help us reduce the spread of any germs.

In Assembly today we were celebrating achievements and birthdays as usual but also reminding ourselves of our school rules which were re-written by the pupils last year:

Respect – yourself, others, our school

Friendship – be kind

Equality – include everyone

Excellence –do your best

These 4 simple Paralympic values are at the heart of everything we do and are very appropriate as our school rules.

After many comments from parents, we have just bought Parentmail as a way of improving our home-school communication with parents. The company cannot get it set up for a couple of weeks and we will let parents know once it is all good to go. Parentmail will allow parents and staff to use email and text messaging for communications. Please ensure that we have your up to date email and mobile phone numbers so that we can make communication as easy and effective as possible.

Have a good weekend,

Denise J-M
