Dear Parents /Carers,
Well they say a week is a long time in politics but it is also a long time in education I have learnt this week! Having told you all last week that our Preparing for Adulthood Co-ordinator Carrie Goodair will be attending transition meetings to support pupils and parents in Year 9 and above with the meetings, I was told by Bromley this week that her role will be fully office based from now on. She will not be attending any of the transition meetings but will be co-ordinating the information from the meeting and putting it into the plan. We are very lucky to have our Transition Teacher, Jackie Sanders to support us in managing the process of transition to the new plans for those pupils who still have statements. Bromley will be writing to those parents concerned and we will also be contacting those parents whose reviews we now have to hold before January 18 (instead of Easter 18 as we were originally told).
I attended the Special Head Teachers meeting with Bromley Officers to find out about the new SEND review that is currently being carried out by external consultants. This means that there is an interim management board for SEND in Bromley at the current time and a detailed plan will be produced for arrangements after Easter 18. The review is covering 4 areas of SEND and the 4 special school Head Teachers will be involved in one focus each. The review will look at provision and placements as well as funding and engagement for pupils and families with SEND.
Most parents will be receiving the invitation letters for our Parents’ Evening on 25th September today. FE parents have a different Parents’ Evening later in the year focusing on transition and parents in G3C will have a different event to get to know staff and parents in their group as they start their secondary journey.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend, I am not going to mention football as my team are in a very sad place at the moment (still waiting for a goal let alone a win!)
